Frightened Rabbit @ Academy 2. Dublin 1st April 2009

When you go to gigs you are always hopeful that you the band will exceed expecations..
Frightened Rabbits 2008 release 'Midnight Organ Fight' has been one of the most played albums on my Ipod  this year and i have been looking forward to these guys play in the Newly Set Up Acoustic Lounge in Dublins Academy.

Lead Vocalist Scott Hutchison was a crowd pleaser interacting with the crowd after each song with some witty humor and stories of broken love, the subject that dominates frightened rabbits lyrics.

Throughout the set he called apon the 200 strong crowd to shout out requests of what to play..
Often choosing one of about 4-5 songs each time probably didnt drift to much away from his intended setlist. Whilst in one of his mid song rants a moment of silence came across the crowd, with one guy decided to voice his opinion and yelled out 'Play Keep yourself Warm' a song that he was obviously saving for the finale. ... the reply from Hutchinson was 'are you serious, come on, we dont want to blow our load before we are ready now do we!'. comedy gold!
Highlights of the main set included Fast Blood, Twist, Floating in the Forth, I Feel Better and the crowd favorite Snake.

Following the main set the lads took a 5 minute interval with just S. Hutchinson returning for his solo performance. After obviously pondering whether it was a good idea to do what he was about to do he decided aftermake his way to the middle of the room to play with just himself and his guitar. In dimmmed light he asked for the crowd to get there cameras/phones out so there was light and continued to play Poke.. It was an amazing experience and please take time to check out the below video.

Following the song he made his way back to the stage to a massive cheer from the crowd... The rest of the band then concluded with 'Heads Roll Off'' to allow for the rest of the male contingent to finally let off there load if it hadn't already occured during Poke.
If these guys are playing in you area make sure u get along to see them as the are sure to impress.
